You moved into a home with a pre-installed home security system
Sometimes when you purchase a home, a security system is already established. All the components work, are placed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this example, you might discover that you have to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come out to make sure there are no integration problems, and they might offer ideas on upgrades. It's a quick trip, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal transfer fee to make the process simpler. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment or retirement community, turning over the Vivint service may be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your existing devices with you
You may need to bring along your favorite smart devices with you to a new place when you move. That’s pretty simple to do, as most components are plug and play. You can take down each component yourself or contact a Vivint installer to come and take down everything. Then a pro will set up the same features -- and any additions you want to have -- in the new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
